About This Course:
This course covers the OSHA Excavation Standard and safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching. Upon course completion students will have the ability to assess their employer’s compliance with the OSHA Excavation Standard, utilize soil testing methods to classify soil types, determine protective systems for excavation operations, and training requirements.

Examination:

There is no required examination for this course.

Safety and health managers and employees, individuals new to the field, those interested in developing and implementing safety and health programs, those responsible for safety and health at some capacity who are looking to expand their knowledge.

  • Practical soil mechanics
  • Shored and unshored slopes
  • Introduction of various types of shoring

  • Protective systems
  • Instruments such as penetrometers, torvane shears, and engineering rods.
